Can You Have Too Much Sex?

October 9th, 2008 by Christiexxx

The answer is a bit more intricate than one would think. To keep it simple I will break it down into two parts:

For men, yes
For women, no

According to medical research, frequent sex promotes firmer thighs, tummies, and buttocks in women. Regular sex can even improve a woman’s posture. However, men can have too much sex resulting in damage to the male reproductive organs. While the penis is flexible, it does have limitations. Too much pounding and roughness can cause damage to penile tissue. When the damage is severe it can lead to permanent damage. With the advent of male enhancement drugs, and ED pills like Viagra and Levitra men can go longer and push their bodies harder. This may or may not be a good thing.

The Better Sex Diet

September 16th, 2008 by Christiexxx

Oysters
A well known aphrodisiac, this shellfish along with scallops, salmon, and sardines are high in omega 3 fatty acids (which are good for your heart) and zinc (which boosts testosterone).

Chocolate
Antioxidant-rich dark chocolate is good for your heart. When you eat chocolate there is a release of chemicals including serotonin which is mood boosting and stress reducing. The production of Phenylethylamine causes changes in blood sugar and blood pressure levels which leads to feelings of excitement.

Nuts
Or more specifically, pine nuts which are rich in protein, menstruated fats and zinc.

Champagne
Champagne lowers inhibitions, so sip on the bubbly and enjoy.

Avocado
In addition to resembling a body part this vegetable is chock full of nutrients that stimulates the heart and libido.

In general, what is good for you is good for your sex life too. So plenty of exercise and a diet rich in fruits and vegetables along with the foods above and you’ll get your mojo going in no time.

Sex is Good for You, Have More of It

September 12th, 2008 by Christiexxx

Several of scientific studies have shown that having more sex is indeed good for your health. Keep in mind this doesn’t include unsafe sex or promiscuous sex –contracting a sexually transmitted infection certainly is not good for you. So, the following applies given you are engaging in sex with a healthy sex partner screened for STI’s.

Having frequent and fervent sex sessions bestows a lot of health benefits to both males and females. A 1997 study showed that men who reported more orgasms lived twice as long as those who did not. More studies have shown a variety of health benefits associated with increased sexual activity including:

  • Decreased risk of heart disease. A 2001 study on cardiovascular disease showed that men who had sex three or more times a week cut their risk of stroke and heart attack in half.
  • Pain relief. Just before orgasm, there is a huge surge in the hormone oxytocin (it surges to five times the normal level). This causes the release of endorphins which eases headaches and arthritis. In women sex causes the production of the hormone estrogen which helps to alleviate pain from PMS.
  • Bladder control. Having frequent sex works the kegel muscles which control the flow of urine.
  • Eases depression. A study of over two hundred women showed that those who had sex with partners without a condom had a lesser rate of depression than those who used condoms. Researchers suspect the hormone prostiglandin which is found only in semen is released in the female genital tract.
  • A healthy prostate. An international study of men in their twenties reported that men can reduce their chance of getting prostate cancer by ejaculating more than five times a week. Urologists believe that there is a definite link between the infrequency of ejaculation and prostate cancer. The remedy: flush those pipes regularly to clear out the toxins.
  • Decreases the cold and flu. Researchers in Pennsylvania say people who have sex once or twice a week have thirty percent more of the antibody immunoglobulin A, which boosts the immune system.
  • Healthy teeth. Seminal fluid is host to many minerals including zinc and calcium which fight tooth decay. It’s a more protein rich and satisfying method of oral hygiene than squeezing a tube of toothpaste, even tartar control toothpaste. In addition, most people brush their teeth before or after sex which also aids in better dental care.

In addition to these health benefits, frequent and enthusiastic sex is a great workout. One half hour session once a week for a year will burn 7,800 calories — the equivalent of jogging 75 miles at a moderate pace. Men’s Health Magazine calls the bed the single greatest piece of exercise equipment ever invented.

Viagra and How it Works

July 30th, 2008 by Christiexxx

Viagra is so well known that every adult has heard of it and can tell you what it does. There is so much Viagra spam e-mail that the pharmaceutical company which manufactures the drug, Pfizer, has a whole page dedicated to the problem, entitled, “Avoid Fake Viagra.” Pfizer estimates that nine Viagra pills are dispensed every second, which is the equivalent of 300 million tablets a year. So what does Viagra do? It makes a man’s penis hard. It gives most men a rock hard erection, which is a good thing if they intend to have sex. How was this discovered? It all starts with scientists studying the technology of the penis. Viagra helps with ejaculation. Ejaculation can be broken down into three steps:

1- The male becomes sexually stimulated
2- The penis responds to this arousal by becoming erect
3- Stimulation of the penis causes ejaculation

Sometimes, however, step two does not happen. And if step two doesn’t happen there’s a problem because the man cannot ejaculate.

If you’ve ever seen the show “How It’s Made” on The Science Channel you’ll appreciate the next part. The show is one of my faves which is why I like the succinct explanation of how the penis works from HowStuffWorks.com:

Probably the easiest way to understand how the penis becomes erect is to think about a balloon. If a balloon has no air in it, it is limp. As you inflate a limp balloon with just a little air, it becomes elongated and rigid.
The penis uses a similar mechanism, but instead of using pressurized air to become rigid, the penis uses pressurized blood. The penis contains two cigar-shaped structures, called corpora cavernosa (singular - corpus cavernosum), that it uses to become erect.
Think of the corpora cavernosa as balloon-like tubes. Arteries bring blood into these two tubes, and veins carry blood away from them. The penis can be either limp or erect, depending on the flow of blood…

In a nutshell, if anything disrupts the flow of blood through the arteries leading to the penis it will greatly decrease a man’s ability to get an erection. Thus, this is the major cause of erectile dysfunction (ED). Through a complex biochemical pathway (which I am not going to discuss here, but you are welcome to look up) Viagra increases blood flow to the penis by blocking an enzyme called PDE5. Rehashing this biochemical reaction will give me flashbacks of Biochemistry 101 and I’m definitely not going there. So, let’s just say this process tends to work well for most men, except that most drugs have side effects. Some major side effects with the use of Viagra include:

-Change in color vision
-Headaches
-Heart palpitations

Of course you are supposed to consult your doctor about the use of any prescription drug. However, there are lots of people who use Viagra recreationally. This has the unintended side effect of dependency and some young men find that after lots of use, they can’t get hard without taking a pill (or two or three). Other drugs that are competitors of Viagra are Levitra and Cialis. They both work similarly by blocking PDE5, only with different chemicals. While Viagra and Levitra last four hours in the bloodstream, Cialis lasts much longer and can remain in the bloodstream for more than 24 hours.

Watermelon Packs a Viagra Like Punch

July 13th, 2008 by Christiexxx

According to recent studies an ingredient found in watermelons called citrulline has an effect on the body much like Viagra. Citrulline causes the production of a compound that helps the blood vessels to relax (which is how Viagra works in the body when a man takes the drug). Citrulline resides in the flesh and rind of watermelons. When consumed in large quantities, it reacts with enzymes in the body and is changed into arginine (an amino acid) that is good for the heart, circulatory an immune systems. In addition, this same amino acid, arginine, increases nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels; this is exactly what Viagra does to the body.

If you think you can get the same effect by eating watermelon, think again. You would have to eat nearly six cups of watermelon to get enough citrulline to create the arginine boost and it’s beneficial side effects.

More scientific research on citrulline and it’s effect on the body are underway. In the meantime, you can feel good knowing that eating this sweet fruit is heart healthy with the added benefit of possibly helping your sex life.

Premature Ejaculation

June 1st, 2008 by Christiexxx

It’s important to understand exactly what premature ejaculation is in order to fix it. Surprisingly there are varied definitions, but I find the most accurate definition of premature ejaculation is when a lack of ejaculatory control interferes with sexual or emotional well-being of one or both sex partners. The emphasis is on control rather than time. Most men who experience premature ejaculation are more upset about the inability to govern when they ejaculate. The time from insertion to ejaculation varies from person to person. Scientific data on this subject is conflicting. Some sources cite three minutes as the time for an average male to ejaculate while others say the average ejaculatory time is anywhere from six to ten minutes. Common sense says everyone is different and you have to know your own body to determine what is normal for you.

Obviously, you should see your doctor for any suspected sexual ailment. When you do visit your doc, she may diagnose you one or two ways:

Primary and secondary  premature ejaculation

You have primary premature ejaculation if you’ve had the problem for as long as you’ve been sexually active.

You have secondary premature ejaculation if you developed the condition after having had previous, satisfying sexual relationships without ejaculatory problems.

Premature ejaculation can be caused by certain biological conditions:

-Abnormal hormone levels
-Abnormal levels of brain chemicals called neurotransmitters
-Abnormal reflex activity of the ejaculatory system
-Certain thyroid problems
-Inflammation and infection of the prostate or urethra
-Inherited traits
-Nervous system damage resulting from surgery or trauma
-Withdrawal from narcotics

In addition, there is definitely a list of psychological factors that can contribute to premature ejaculation. Fortunately, premature ejaculation is a common problem and is not difficult to correct. Lasting longer in bed is a learned skill, not something one is born with. So, what’s next now that you know for sure what the problem is? You can correct the problem by examining the physical and emotional aspects.

Start by learning your body. You should be comfortable with your body and sexual response. You should know when you are about to come and when you’ve reached the “point of no return.” Usually this happens through a variety of sexual experiences over time.

Breathe
Most people are surprised that the easiest way to reduce stress or anxiety is to breathe. Focus on taking deep, controlled breaths; this will help to control your ejaculatory response.

Talk
Communication is a simple concept, but it’s not easy. Opening up to your partner and talking truthfully about your sexual desires is important to a healthy sexual relationship. Both partners should feel comfortable talking about their wants, needs, and desires. Talk and talk some more. Talking openly will clear up many misunderstandings, assumptions, and alleviate any ambiguity. And it will free you to make choices based on what you know about each other.

Therapy
Talk therapy or counseling requires you to talk about your experiences and relationships with a sex counselor or mental health professional. These sessions will help you overcome performance anxiety and find better coping techniques to deal with stress. Sometimes couples dealing with premature ejaculation see the therapist together. Your therapist may also prescribe medications and discuss sexual techniques such as masturbating an hour or two before intercourse to help delay ejaculation during sex. She may discuss avoiding intercourse for a period of time and focusing on other forms of sex play in order to remove the pressure from your sexual encounters.

Condoms
In addition to providing protection against STD’s and pregnancy, condoms decrease stimulation of the penis during sex. This reduction in stimulation helps many men last longer.

If you are feeling frustrated or ashamed realize that premature ejaculation is a common problem that can be treated. Talk to your doctor if it’s putting a damper on your sex life.

The Male G-Spot

April 29th, 2008 by Christiexxx

The prostate gland is about the size of a walnut or unopened condom and sits just below the bladder. The prostate gland makes up to 30% of a man’s ejaculatory fluid (the remaining makeup of semen is spermatozoa and seminal fluid secreted by the seminal vesicles). For many men the prostate gland is a sex organ that when stimulated can provide immense sexual pleasure.

Some men can get off by manipulation of their prostate alone. It’s believed that a “prostate orgasm” is a longer, stronger and more continuous form of male orgasm. Exploring the male G spot is the key to experiencing other pleasures not just limited to the penis. If you are a bit uneasy about exploring your prostate you can still stimulate the prostate without penetration. You may want to try a prostate massage with your partner or prostate masturbation by yourself.

How to Find Your Male G Spot

  1. Get comfy and take a nice hot shower. Many men are concerned about cleanliness and anal play. To alleviate this anxiety take a hot shower or bath. Also, make sure you go to the bathroom before you wash up if you are concerned you might have a bowel movement during anal play.
  2. Groom your nails. Trim your nails and file the edges down until they are smooth. Make sure there are no sharp edges when you’re playing with toys. The last thing you want is to tear the sensitive lining of the anus (ouch!). You can also use latex gloves (not if you’re allergic of course) to protect your anus.
  3. Get turned on and get comfy. Getting aroused makes it easier to find the G spot. So watch a flick, look at a smut magazine, let your partner stimulate you a bit, masturbate, etc. Experiment with positions and use pillows to find a position that works for you (lying on your side, sitting in a chair, lying on your back with feet in the air).
  4. Massage your anus and perineum. Start with external stimulation. Never rush the penetration part of anal play. Start with massaging the perineum which is located between the anus and the testicles, you will find this relaxing. Gently rub the anus in a circular motion. Relax the anal sphincter by gently pushing on the anus.
  5. Breathe and go on in. Breathing is important. Gently place a finger tip (well lubed of course) into the opening of the anus and exhale while you push out (like when you are going to the bathroom). Relax and hold a bit while you get used to this sensation.
  6. Now find your G spot. The prostate sits below your bladder and is about two inches in toward your stomach. Some people can find it immediately and for others it takes more time. It’s much easier to have your partner do it for you.
  7. Experiment
Now that you’ve found your G spot try experimenting with different sensations. Some people like vibration others like to alternate between light and hard touch. Try contracting and squeezing your PC muscle for a different feel.
  8. Toys!
Anal toys are a great way to explore prostate stimulation. Some men like vibrators and some like toys with a slight curve. Everyone is different so take your time and try lots of toys. Butt plugs are popular in anal play. You can leave them in and have fun with your partner or leave it in and masturbate.

Squirt!

March 31st, 2008 by Christiexxx

Also known as squirting and gushing, female ejaculation occurs when copious amounts of fluid is secreted from a woman’s genitals during orgasm. The source of the fluid and how a female ejaculates (what anatomical structures are involved) is highly debated among scientists and sexologists. Usually, a woman will achieve orgasm and ejaculate via the stimulation of her clitoris, and urethral sponge (also called the G-spot). Some women come in large amounts while many women ejaculate about a teaspoon of fluid. The idea that a woman is urinating during ejaculation is a common myth. Female ejaculation is fluid not produced by the urethra (it’s not urine). Science has discovered that this fluid is completely different altogether. The fluid produced by female ejaculation has been shown to be similar to the fluid produced by the male prostate gland and contains the same biochemical markers of sexual function.

Discussion of female ejaculation dates back to the Greek and Roman era, from the Greek philosopher Aristotle to the Roman physician Galen.

When a woman ejaculates she has a strong feeling that she has to urinate. This lasts for a few seconds, then changes to a feeling of sexual enjoyment. Many women hold back their sexual response during sex to avoid squirting on their partners. This most likely explains why many women (as much as 25% of American women) never have orgasms; they have trained themselves to avoid the embarrassing wetness of “urinating” during sex.

The shame and embarrassment that surrounds female ejaculation has prevented many women from achieving good sex. A simple fix is for her to play and enjoy her sexual response more. Here are a few tips:

Take time to get aroused
You should masturbate as normal. Look at some porn or a smut magazine. Think about a fantasy and get in the mood. If this works, you should cum again and again. Explore reaching multiple orgasms.
Use your fingers
Explore your vaginal canal and take time to explore how it feels the textures and all. If you’ve never done this, it’s going to be a nice ride.
Explore the front wall of the vaginal canal
This might feel sensitive and uncomfortable at first. Place your fingers an inch or two inside and feel along the wall. It will feel bumpy and rough compared to the rest of your vagina. You might have the urge to pee when you push on it. Push harder to feel your pubic bone. If you can hook your finger behind this area, you’ve found your G-spot!
Play with toys
You can stimulate your clit directly with a vibrator or dildo. Try playing with different toys to see what works for you.
Empty your bladder first
Since ejaculating feels like the urge to pee, empty your bladder then play with your G-spot.
Prepare before you play
If the thought of gushing still freaks you out, place a towel or two in bed. Or take it to the bathtub, you will already be wet!
Play with your clit
Try a vibrator on your clit or a curved dildo. Your partner’s tongue will do nicely too.

Male Refractory Period

February 14th, 2008 by Christiexxx

The Male Refractory Period Defined

The male refractory period (MRP) happens immediately after a man ejaculates when his penis is no longer aroused and he can no longer orgasm. This can last a few minutes to as long as half a day. The MRP varies in each individual due to age, health, lifestyle, etc. Much talk about male refractory period has to do with shortening this period of time, so that one can get back to the job of fucking and roaming.

The downtime of MRP does increase with age. But there’s no need to rush to the doc for a prescription to cure it. There are few things you can do to decrease the wait:

-Learn to control the PC (pubococcygeus) muscle and you can achieve multiple orgasms without ejaculation

-As soon as you ejaculate put a warm towel around your penis and testicles. The warmth will keep the blood flowing to these areas. And massaging your dick basically accomplishes the same thing.

The Male Orgasm

During the male orgasm the muscles of the penis contract rapidly. The muscles of your urethra, prostate, and at the base of your penis contract to force semen through the peristalsis (the opening of the urethra). This causes a pleasurable incredibly pleasurable feeling and can last anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds. Most men can come after direct stimulation of the penis (fucking, handjob, blowjob, etc.) Some men can also come by direct stimulation of the prostate through the perineum or the rectum. The amount of ejaculate can decrease with age. This is normal. While the pleasure experienced during ejaculation is not affected, the duration of ejaculation/orgasm does decrease.

Multiple Orgasms

A man can experience a dry orgasm where he orgasms but does not ejaculate. And a man can ejaculate and not orgasm. There are different techniques said to help achieve multiple orgasms. Some people report that abstaining from ejaculation will lead to a more intense post-orgasm state. Some men who practice this say they have more powerful orgasms when they choose to have one. One way to do this is to simply hold on to the perineum to stop ejaculation (also known as a ruined orgasm). Another technique is to simply relax and let go; you can learn relaxation through yoga and meditation.

Some studies show that the hormone prolactin is the cause of the male refractory period. As a result, there are many experimental drugs that inhibit prolactin. Most “herbals” and non prescription experimental drugs are not regulated by the FDA and in my opinion are really not a good idea to use.
