Erotic Bondage, part 2
I’ve assembled a list of bondage restraints. There are many different kinds of bondage gear from restraints to furniture to physical stimulation. You can even create your own. I think novices and veterans alike can take something from the following links and definitions. And remember, before you dive in to be safe, sane, and consensual.
Beginner Bondage
We’re talking leather cuffs, bondage tape, collars, and nipple clamps. Toss out the scarves and bandannas (a cheap alternative for novices but not very efficient) and upgrade to some beginning bondage gear. To get started try a beginner bondage kit.
Extreme Bondage
For seasoned vets or those looking for a more intense experience. Sensory deprivation hoods, spreader bars, and police handcuffs will satisfy your BDSM fantasies. For the ultimate extreme bondage trip try a bodybag (also known as a sleep sack).
Here are a few definitions to get you started:
Armbinders - can be created with rope or more commonly are made with leather or bondage tape. Armbinders look like large gloves that pull up around both arms.
Body bags - this device covers your entire body renders you completely immobile. Bodybags resemble a sleeping bag and is made of leather, spandex, or rubber. Some have openings for nipples or genitals so the bound subject can be toyed with.
Hoods - hoods come in a variety of styles. Most hoods are made of leather or rubber. Some have zippers, others laces. Deluxe hoods for sensory deprivation may have built in earmuffs. Some have eyeholes and a space for earphones. All hoods have nose holes. Keep a pair of bandage scissors in case of emergencies.
Mummification- the process of rendering someone completely immobile by wrapping their body in plastic wrap or bondage tape. Monitor your slave carefully and have scissors ready to cut them out of their cocoon (bandage scissors are recommended). Your subject can overheat while mummified, so be aware of this and have a blanket ready for when they exit their cocoon.

Bondage Safety
It’s important to keep in mind safety and comfort when practicing bondage. Some general guidelines courtesy of Extreme Restraints (I couldn’t say it better myself):
Bondage should always be safe, sane and consensual between the partners. As long as you keep some basic safety precautions in mind you’ll be able to enjoy bondage play without hurting anyone.
* Respect the limits of your partner at all times and use a bondage “safe word.” Set up a safe word before you start to ensure that each participant can end his/her participation with a word or gesture.
* Never make any bondage restraint too tight, especially around joints (wrists, elbows, knees, ankles) or the neck. You want to make sure your partner can breathe and be sure blood flows to the important parts of the body.
* Snug bondage restraints should not be left on too long, and never without regular monitoring.
* Be prepared to cut difficult knots or bonds in an emergency.
* Go slow with novices and first encounters to bondage. Be especially sensitive to your partner’s emotional reactions, providing frequent gentle body contact, spoken encouragement and other reassurances.
The only thing I would add to this is to monitor your subject closely and never leave them alone, they are helpless in the event of a fire, power outage, or other event.
Most of this information is culled from various sources such as sexuality.org, wikipedia, and books on BDSM.
